background:

The FCGRT and B2M heterodimeric protein ( FcRn complex) consists of two subunits: p51 (equivalent to FCGRT) and p14 (equivalent to β-2-microglobulin), and forms a heterodimer similar to MHC class I. The Fc fragment of IgG, receptor, transporter, α (FCGRT) binds to the Fc region of the γ monomeric immunoglobulin, mediating the absorption of IgG in milk. FCGRT may play a role in the transfer of immunoglobulin G from the mother to the fetus. β-2-microglobulin (B2M) is a component of the class I major histocompatibility complex (MHC) and is involved in presenting peptide antigens to the immune system.
