Detailed Introduction
background:
CD48 antigen is also known as Signaling lymphocyte activation molecule 2, SLAM family member 2 (SLAMF2), leukocyte antigen MEM-102, BCM1 surface antigen, and B lymphocyte activation marker BLAST-1. CD48 is a 65 kDa GPI-linked protein that belongs to the CD2 subfamily of immunoglobulin superfamily molecules. The CD48 antigen contains two Ig-like C2-type (immunoglobulin-like) domains and two Ig-like V-type (immunoglobulin-like) domains. CD48 interacts with CD244 in a heterophilic manner. CD48 is a ligand for CD2. CD48 may promote interactions between activated lymphocytes. CD48 may be involved in regulating T cell activation.
