Detailed Introduction
Overview:
β-1,4-Galactosyltransferase 1, also known as B4GalT1, is one of seven β-1,4-Galactosyltransferases that transfer galactose to acceptor sugars, including GlcNAc , Glc , and Xyl . The Y285L single point mutation in B4GalT1 results in a switch in enzyme activity from Gal-transferase activity to GalNAc-transferase activity. Recombinant human B4GalT1 (Y285L) can be used to synthesize lacdiNAc -terminated glycoconjugates, which are terminal glycan modifications found on many glycoproteins, including the activating receptor for natural killer cells, NKR-P1, and CD69.
